Twelve Months in a Vietnam War Huey

You have read the grunt memoirs and watched the films, and you keep wondering about the machines overhead. Who was in that helicopter, what did they see from the open door, and what did it take to fly into a landing zone that was already on fire?

This audiobook follows one documented US Army Huey crew through a full twelve-month tour in Vietnam. Each chapter puts you inside a single mission, from the radio call to the approach under fire to the men lifted out of the elephant grass and the quiet ride back to base. The pilot, co-pilot, crew chief and door gunner are real people with names you will come to know, and the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese soldiers beneath them are given faces wherever testimony survives. Ranks, geography and the aircraft itself are explained as the story moves, so you need no military background to keep up.

By the flight home you will understand the Vietnam War from the air the way the classic memoirs gave it from the ground, and an epilogue tells you what became of every crew member. Press play and take the left seat.
