The Vet Will See You Now

Bloomsbury presents The Vet Will See You Now by Barak Benaryeh, read by Katherine Fenton.

Kitchen Confidential meets All Creatures Great and Small.

In this insider's scoop into the veterinary world, Dr. Barak Benaryeh uses stories as a backdrop while delivering current veterinary information that every pet owner can use in the midst of a rapidly changing profession. Through Dr. Benaryeh's irreverent, bitingly satirical, often humorous, and sometimes tragic stories, readers get to ride shotgun with a seasoned vet and hear a unique view of the veterinary profession, learning how to be better consumers. Come behind the scenes of an examination room and find out what vets really think and what happens when you walk through the "Employees Only" door to the other side.

From bringing home a new pet to recognizing emergencies, choosing the right vet, treating cancer, and more, Dr. Benaryeh's advice covers a multitude of relevant experiences that every pet owner will inevitably face. Some stories are outlandish and not the kind you would expect in your ordinary vet book. They range from dead pets that aren't dead, fake testicles, dog food mishaps, and other events that give meaning to the phrase: truth is stranger than fiction. Dr. Benaryeh also draws on his own vast experience with personal pets as the book moves through the life cycle of animals as well as his life as a veterinarian and pet owner. Whether you're seeking veterinary information or pure entertainment, this book will not disappoint.
