The Sherlock Holmes Halloween Special (The Vampire of Düsseldorf, Episode 5)

The final episode: Holmes, Watson and Detective Superintendent Ernst Gennat drive through Düsseldorf with Marie Butlies until she recognises the house – Mettmanner Straße 71, right at the top under the roof. A name is on the door: Peter Kürten. That same afternoon Kürten finds the summons on the kitchen table, and his wife Auguste asks him the question she has dreaded for years. That night she has to choose between her husband and the truth – and at the Rochusmarkt the officers are waiting. A closing note on the trial and the names of the victims follow. This episode tells of a real case and real victims – with restraint, without embellishment.
