Only Human

For the first time, Human Nature's incredible story is told in their own words, offering an intimate portrait of four friends who navigated fame, personal hardship and the pressures of an unforgiving industry, yet chose to stay together when walking away would have been easier. It all began with four friends at high school. Toby Allen, Phil Burton and brothers Andrew and Mike Tierney were just teenagers harmonising in the music room of a suburban Sydney agricultural high school at a time when being in a vocal group wasn't anyone's idea of cool. A chance a cappella audition led to a record deal, and what followed exceeded even their wildest dreams. Over the next three decades, Human Nature became one of Australia's most successful music acts, selling more than 2.5 million albums, earning 27 platinum awards, scoring 19 Top 40 hits and building an extraordinary career. Along the way, they achieved something even rarer than success: they stayed together. For the first time, all four members speak openly and candidly - in their own distinct voices - about the moments audiences never saw. The pressures of fame, the uncertainty of an industry that never quite knew where to place them, the constant reinvention required to survive, the struggles that tested them, and the friendships, families and partners who carried them through it all. Honest, funny, revealing and deeply personal, Only Human explores not only the music and milestones that made Human Nature household names, but also the resilience, loyalty and determination that sustained them. It's the story of four mates who became part of people's lives across generations - and learned that the harmony only works because of who's standing next to you. 'Human Nature have always brought honesty and heart to every note. "Every Time You Cry" was a joy to perform with them.' JOHN FARNHAM
