American Civil War Story of the 20th Maine

You have read the famous names and the troop movements, but you want to know what it felt like to stand in the line with the men who held it.

This unabridged, character-led true story follows the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry from muster to surrender. A small group of documented men carries you through every chapter, among them Joshua Chamberlain, the college professor who became their colonel. You march with them into the slaughter at Fredericksburg, hold the rocky slope of Little Round Top at Gettysburg, and endure the grinding trenches of Petersburg. Each 20 to 30 minute chapter paints the ground in words and reminds you who is who, so the story stays easy to follow by ear. Their experiences are paraphrased from the record, with no invented quotes, and a companion PDF of maps and people comes with the book.

By Appomattox you will understand why these men called each other brothers. Press play and fall in with the regiment.
